WINTERFEST is on FACEBOOK!

Winterfest is a highlight of the school year at East Wake Academy especially for K-4 students,
but all of our families have come to enjoy Winterfest as an EWA tradition in anticipation of the holidays.
Winterfest is a fundraising event for the K-4 Specials Classes: Art, Music, Media, Spanish and PE.
The Specials Teachers have been able to enhance their classrooms with the purchase of technology, curriculum, musical instruments including xylophones and ukuleles, classroom furniture, books and computer programs, listening centers, a kiln and pottery wheel, and much more! We are deeply appreciative of PAL
and the tremendous support of the teachers, staff and parents through Winterfest!

WINTERFEST FAQ's
When is Winterfest?
Winterfest will be held on Saturday, December 7th, 2019.
What happens at Winterfest?
**Performances
Every grade level performs at Winterfest throughout the day. This is a wonderful showcase of the incredibly talented students we have at EWA. Contact Marcia Rothra for performance information at [email protected].
**Silent Auction
Our silent auction will be the main fundraising focus of Winterfest this year. Some classroom items will be sold in the silent auction. The silent auction is held throughout the day including items that have been made by some K-4 classes, and items that have been donated by parents, local vendors, and businesses for the silent auction. The silent auction begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 3:30 in the afternoon. Contact Elizabeth Barnhill at [email protected] for more information about the silent auction.
**Live Auction
We have been approached by several parents about bringing back the live auction where the students create a classroom item to be auctioned off before the grade level performance at Winterfest. In order for this to be accomplished, we need parent volunteers to take on this task for your child’s homeroom or other classes. Some of the items that we have created in the past include a class picture with a matte around it that the kids have signed, a photobook, a photo blanket, etc. Other ideas could include decorated tablecloths, aprons, stools, etc. with fingerprints or handprints on them. Please continue to check the SignUp Genius for updates on things needed for Winterfest:
**Vendors
Half of the gym is dedicated to 10 x 10 spaces for vendors. Vendors inside the gym must include at least 50% of their items as handmade. Vendor spots are available outside as well, which can be secured up until the day before Winterfest (so you can keep an eye on the weather). Contact Shelley Shoemaker for a vendor application and more information at sshoemaker @eastwakeacademy.org.
**Winterfest Cafe
Our dining hall will house our "Winterfest Cafe"! We will be selling pizza, chips, cold drinks, and ice cream in the Cafe. Be on the look out for a couple of food trucks as well! Contact Kevin Kelly at [email protected] to find out ways you can help and items you can donate!
**Photo Booth
Kids of all ages can come and get your picture taken at the photo booth. Pictures will be printed right then and there! Prices will be made available during the weeks before Winterfest so you can be prepared to get that perfect shot for your annual Christmas card!
